When the ski helmet becomes compulsory and where is not known. Adults are not obliged to wear a ski helmet, but it is strongly recommended. Please look at the small print of your travel insurance, as it is sometimes compulsory to wear a ski helmet because otherwise you are not 100% insured. Even if someone else has caused the accident !
For children the Ski helmet is compulsory (with age limit) in Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Poland and Austria. If your child does not wear a child's ski helmet here, you can be fined from € 150 to € 200 and you can return the ski pass! There is no winter sports helmet obligation in Germany. The ski helmet is sometimes compulsory at ski schools in Germany, France and Switzerland and the children's ski helmet is definitely recommended.

< 16 years of age Austria and Poland
So the winter sports helmet is not mandatory with skiing, but it is so safe, warm, protects against snow and wind and finishes off your outfit. And of course you set a good example to others!
